The impact of the Civil War on Christmas

11th December 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This Christmas we will be at the Lighthouse ( Formerly Church House )  where Bob Thomas will be telling us about all things festive, or not so festive during the Civil War. He has a particular interest in the Civil War and especially what it meant for the common man.

Come and find out what Impact the Civil War had on Christmas in the 17th Century and also what food you might have been eating. We will be sampling food prepared according to recipes from the period including a main dish of “Smothered Chicken”.  We’ve given the Devonshire Bakery the recipe and they are going to cook it for us. They are preparing delicious 17th century desserts for us as well! Please bring your own drinks and glasses.

As food will be provided pre-booking is essential and there will be an additional charge of £10. Non-members and guests wellcome.  Please contact Tina Johnson as soon as possible  at history@weaverham.org.uk

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE.

Due to the kitchen requirements this meeting is at the Lighthouse, opposite St Mary’s Church, in Church Lane,  not at Owley Wood as previously advertised.

For those of you who have lived in Weaverham a long time the Lighthouse is the new name for Church House. It’s been extended and improved and is a really nice venue.
