The next meeting of the Society will be on Tuesday, 9 December but, as usual in December, we shall be meeting at the Owley Wood Club, Barrymore Road, Weaverham, CW8 3LS. Please arrive from 7 pm for a prompt 7.30 pm start, so that you will have time to buy a drink from the bar.
There will be a buffet style meal with a desert of finger cakes prepared by the Club, which comes highly recommended, but if you have any special dietary requirements please let us know by the beginning of December so that we can let the staff at the Club know in good time.
Our speaker and entertainer for the evening will be Tom Hudson, an historian and animator, and the subject will be “The History of Christmas and its Traditions”. Tom will be in costume, so that will be a surprise! There will also be a raffle.
The cost for this evening is £15 which can be paid ahead of time using sort code 09-01-29 and account number 26685458. Alternatively, you can pay on the night as long as you let us know that you are coming by contacting the Society beforehand. The event is open to everyone, so you don’t have to be a member of the Society to join us.
I look forward to seeing you in December for an evening of jollity and entertainment.
