The next meeting of the Society will be held on Tuesday, 8 July at 7.30 pm at the Weaverham Primary Academy, Northwich Road, CW8 3BD when we have Meg Parkes looking at her research into the British military perspective of Far East captivity.
As she says “Far East prisoners of war (FEPOW) history reveals an incredible story of medical ingenuity and inventiveness, humour and skill that kept men alive, both physically and mentally, while enduring the most dreadful conditions. It is this that I focus on, the awe inspiring work to keep hope and men alive.”
We feel that this talk is most appropriate this month as this is the nearest meeting we have to VJ Day on 15 August.
Meg is also bringing along some books for sale, so don’t forget your cash when you come to the meeting.
As a reminder, we do not have a meeting in August, but in September we start the talks season again with Jonathan Plant and his tour of prehistoric sites in west Cheshire.
