Day trip to North Wales by coach

Wednesday 13th August 2008

Times        
         
8.15 am   Northwich Road / Lime Avenue shops   Pick up point
8.20 am   Withens Lane - Community Centre   Pick up point
8.25 am   Hanging Gate   Pick up point
8.30 am   "The Hayes" & depart Weaverham   Final pick up point
         
9.30 am   Arrive St. Asaph. Coffee, cake & comfort stop at Jacob's Ladder coffee shop    
10.00 am   Commence guided tour of St. Asaph Cathedral    
    The site of this Ancient Cathedral has been used as a place of worshipsince AD560 when the church with a large monastic communitywas founded by St. Kentigern, Bishop of Strathclyde.    
11.00 am   Depart St. Asaph    
         
11.15 am   Arrive Bodelwyddan Castle    
11.30 am   Commence guided tour    
    The house has a fascinating history, parts of which date back to the15th C. but it was in the 1830s that the building was remodelled as a castle by Sir John Hay William. The Victorian period rooms provide a backdrop to 19th C.portraits from the National Portrait Gallery.    
    There are gardens, a gift shop and a café to be explored.    
12.30 pm   Complete guided tour, then free time to purchase your own lunch and further explore the Castle & gardens.    
2.30 pm   Depart Bodelwyddan Castle & proceed down the scenic Vale of Clwyd to Minera, near Wrexham    
       
3.30 pm   Arrive Minera Lead Mining Museum    
3.45 pm   Commence guided tour    
    We will visit the Visitor Centre & explore the remains of the 19th C. lead processing areas & re-constructed engine house. Tea & coffee can be purchased.    
5.00 pm   Depart Minera    
         
6.00 pm   Arrive Weaverham    

Cost: If 30 persons go the cost will be £26 each to include travel, morning coffee, three guided tours with entrance fees & coach driver's tip.If 45 persons go the cost will be less.
