Here are some links to sites that have had to move when Orange abandoned their old home pages

Orange Links

Cheshire Look Up Exchange

Formerly http://mysite.orange.co.uk/cheshirelookup

Has been uploaded to the Rootsweb Freepages. Here's the new URL http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cheshirelookup/

Lancashire Local History Federation

Formerly http://lancashirehistory.mysite.orange.co.uk/

"Probably aware as http://lancashirehistory.weebly.com/ under construction We have started to build a new site using Weebly." A Google search on Lancashire History finds http://www.lancashirehistory.org/ which leads to the new site.( Still under construction as at 19th Feb 2009 )

There was more information on their old site - which can be found on the WayBack machine ( Oct 2007 ) at http://web.archive.org/web/20071012223445/http://lancashirehistory.mysite.orange.co.uk/

Lost - Forever?

Roman Bridges ( Tarvin )

Formerly http://mysite.orange.co.uk/peteraitken/romanbriges.htm

Also the Tarvin Trail at http://mysite.orange.co.uk/peteraitken/tarvintrailall.htm

"The Roman Bridges, which are situated about 1 to 1.5 miles from Tarvin are reputedly first century in origin. However, this is not supported by local historians who put them much later than that. Nevertheless, they are a fascinating place to visit, since they are well off the beaten track and give an idea of what bridges were like long long ago"

This fascinating site on the Hockenhull Platts by Peter Aitken seems to have disappeared, a real loss. But if anyone needs access to it I have most of the pages from this site saved. There is also the WayBack machine - the Web Archive at http://www.archive.org/web/web.php , search for its former location at http://www.aitken.demon.co.uk/tarvintrailall.htm- but most of the images are missing.

There is also info at http://www.tarvinfamily.org/village.html and at Peter Aitken's Orange Sitemaker site at http://mysite.orange.co.uk/peteraitken/ - but I gave up waiting for that to load!
