Day trip to Manchester by coach

Sunday 5th April 2009

Times        
         
9.15 am   Northwich Road / Lime Avenue shops   Pick up point
9.20 am   Withens Lane - Community Centre   Pick up point
9.25 am   Hanging Gate   Pick up point
9.30 am   "The Hayes" & depart Weaverham   Final pick up point
         
10.15 am   Arrive Victoria Baths, Longsight for morning coffee / tea & biscuits.    
10.30 am   Commence guided tour    
         
    The guided tour will include a look at the normally hidden parts of this    
    Edwardian gem as well as its public face. The baths were originally    
    opened in 1906 & closed in 1993. They then became well known when    
    they won the BBC's Restoration competition.    
         
12 noon   Complete guided tour & depart Victoria Baths.    
12.30 pm   Arrive John Rylands Library on Deansgate    
    Lunch in "Café at the Rylands" (not included in cost)    
    The café describes itself as "fresh - local & ethical" and is    
    located in the magnificent surroundings of the Library.    
    (SAMPLE MENUS ARE BEING SENT TO ME)    
1.15 pm   Commence guided tour by Blue Badge Guide -    
    (probably two groups, depending on numbers)    
         
    John Rylands Library, Deansgate, houses some of the most significant    
    books & manuscripts ever produced. The magnificent neo-gothic building    
    has undergone a significant restoration since our last visit several years ago.    
         
2.45 pm   Depart Deansgate    
3.00 pm   Arrive Manchester Museum on Oxford Road    
    As we only have an hour here suggest we concentrate on looking at    
    Lindow Man exhibition (it closes in Manchester on 19th April)    
    Café Muse is also available for teas etc. (not included in cost)    
4.00 pm   Depart Manchester Museum as it closes at 4pm    
5.00 pm   Arrive Weaverham    

Cost: £22 - it may be cheaper if well supported
