PARISH CHURCH OF WEAVERHAM n i^Uu 240

of London. Like most old bells, each one had its inter- ^ esting motto cast on it, but unfortunately those on the fourth and fifth were not renewed at the re-casting. 1 On the Jirst bell are the words :—

" My treble voice makes heart rejoice" and " For King and Constitution."

" Thomas and James Bilbic, fecit 1795," followed by the names of the Wardens for that year.

On the second :—

"Peace and Good Neighbourhood," 1718.

On the third :—

"Prosperity to the Church of England," 1718.

On the sixth :—

" I to the Church the living call, I to the grave do summon all.

Fear God, Honour the King."

" Thomas and James Bilbic, Chewstokc, Somerset, Fecit, 1795," followed again by the names of the Wardens.

Entries in the records for 172O, giving particulars of the purchasing of timber from Bartinton, Sandiway, and Cuddington for the new frames and other necessary material, ready for the return of the bells from Gloucester and the cartage to Shrewsbury and back again, are very interesting reading as a few extracts will illustrate :—
