1694. Interesting entry of the Burial of the Rev. Samuel Hanmer, Vicar :—

1774. "Joseph Rigby, Farmer, Gorstage. In his youth with the help of his brother John, he kept his mother from the Town.
He played incomparably well on the Violin, and he says,
'Joseph beat time near nine times seven, Time beat Joseph and now they are even.' In his 72nd year he was buried."
1776. "Thomas Lowe, of Beach Hill, yeoman. May 24th, N.B. He was accounted a very honest man, but had little appearance of region."
"Joseph Wilcockson, Stocking Weaver, alias Framework knitter, Feb. 10th de YVeverharn. It is believed by the major part of the people in this town, he received his death by the bruises given him by William Holland, Butcher. The coroner held an inquisition and the surgeon opened him and found part of his bowels broke, many witnesses examined, but through tenderness, or, and, not declaring what they knew, the ruffian was acquitted to the great mortification of many."
" Mr. John Beavon, Bone Setter of Gorstage, May 11 tli. The neighbourhood and country will receive a great loss by his death. N.B. There was a Sermon."
1777. "John Barker, of Weverham, Jan. 2 f st. This poor man had been out with his team towards Cote Brook, had drunk too much, lost his team 011 the forest and was starved to death."
"Josiah Woodworth of Wevciham, Shopkeeper, November 20th. He was an honest little man."
"William Barker, of Sandiway, May 11th. This person left a great character behind him."
" Rev'd. Mr. Thomas Hunter, A.M., Vicar of this Parish, died September ist . . . upon his coffin aged 66. He was an incomparable and sound preacher, but his eyesight failing him in the latter part of his life was obliged to keep a curate. The parish received a great loss until his youngest son came into orders. . . . His life was the noblest comment upon the Gospel, and the best proof of its excellency. He was active, sober and just ; mild, easy and humane ; charitable,
